Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a French mother). When she was five, she relocated to Oxfordshire, where she attended Dragon School. At the age of six years old, Emma knew that she was going to become an actor and, for a period of years she was trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school where she was taught singing, dancing and acting. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. The casting process began in 1999 Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001 the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book. Emma was approached by casting agents by her Oxford theater teacher. After eight continuous auditions David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were given the roles of Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. Emma's debut on the screen came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records in opening-day and weekend sales and was the highest-grossing film in 2001. The film's performances as well as those of its young stars were well-received by the critics. The widely distributed British newspaper, 'The Daily Telegraph' has praised her performance as "admirable". Emma received the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a feature Film, and was later nominated for five other prizes. After the release of the first film in the hugely popular franchise, Emma became one of the most popular actresses across the world. For nearly ten more years, she was the character of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma has been nominated twice for Critics' Choice Awards by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
